Prof. Christine Fleming Hendon was honored in the MIT Technology Review’s 35 Innovators Under 35 for her work on cardiac imaging and image processing. She will also speak at the EmTech conference at MIT in October.
Prof. Christine Fleming received a two year Broadening Participation Research Initiation Grants in Engineering (BRIGE) award from the NSF. The objective of this BRIGE proposal is to develop high-resolution optical imaging and image analysis for diagnosis of diseases and therapy monitoring of the heart muscle. The aims of the project are 1) characterizing human myocardium ex vivo with optical coherence tomography imaging, 2) development of automated image processing algorithms for tissue classification, and 3) broadening participation in STEM fields through outreach to NYC high school students.
