During the 2015 Class Day ceremony, Prof Christine Hendon was awarded the Rodriguez Family Junior Faculty Development Award at the School of Engineering and Applied Science. This award was founded by SEAS alumni Ana Rodriguez (SEAS’86, ’88) and her brother, Marcos (SEAS’83), to support and recognize the achievements of under-represented junior faculty.
Prof. Christine Hendon received an award from the NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program, CAREER: Structure-Functional Imaging of the Atrial Myocardium. This award is co-funded by the Biophotonics program (CBET) in the Engineering Directorate and the Communications, Circuits, & Sensing Systems (ECCS) in the Engineering Directorate.
Professor Hendon was one of 49 junior faculty members awarded the 2014 NIH New Innovator Award for her grant proposal High Resolution Imaging of the Myocardium. The award will provide $2.4 million over five years, with $1.5 million in direct funds. This will allow Prof Hendon and her group to work towards their goals of developing high resolution optical coherence tomography catheters to assess tissue remodeling and evaluation of interventional therapies.
